How To: Activate 2 Step Verification
Step 1: Login to myaccount.google.com > Go To Security > Click on 2-Step verification > Re-enter your Gmail Password.
Step 2: Click on Get Started
Step 3: Enter your active Mobile number to receive the OTP for verification on SMS / Phone call [Mandatory]
Step 4: Enter the OTP received on your active Mobile number and click Next
Step 5: Click on Turn ON
Step 6: 2 Step verification is activated on your Gmail account
Important: Once the 2 Step verification is enabled, kindly replace your Gmail password with App Specific on your IMAP / POP / Exchange Sync clients like Outlook, Thunderbird, Mail App on iPhone to re-sync your emails.
Step 1: Login to myaccount.google.com > Go To Security > App Specific Passwords
Step 2: Select type of App & Device only for identification.
Step 3: Select & Generate.
Step 4: Enter App Specific Password on your Client / App. [This is one time activity only for each Client / App]
[Optional] It is always recommended to received your OTP in OFFLINE via Google Authenticator App (Android, IOS) as sometimes due to SIM card provider might have issues to receive the OTP. Here, are the steps to setup the same.
Step 1: Click on Authenticator Setup
Step 2: Select type of Phone and Click on Next
Step 3: Open the Google Authenticator App on your Phone and Scan the Barcode using Camera or Enter the 16 digit Key.
Step 4: Enter the code from your Google Authenticator.
Step 5: All set!
Note: Gmail 2 Step verification is not applicable for the domains having Single Sign On enabled. If you're unable to find 2 Step verification, then contact your Domain Administrator to enable the option from the Admin Panel.
Login to G Suite Admin Console - admin.google.com
Go To Basic > Security
Under Two-step verification, check Allow users to turn on 2-step verification.
On the bottom right, click Save.
